When I was photographing these masked dancers yesterday, I couldn't help but think of the legendary Life Magazine photographer Burk Uzzle. If you've not seen Burk's photos of people in white face, check out his studio shots at: http://www.burkuzzle.com/driver.php?category=photos&subnav=studio

Burk Uzzle will be our special guest photographer for our upcoming Cape Fear Music Festival, A Celebration of Music and Photography, as well as our photography competition judge. For more on the photography contest visit: http://methodist.edu/capefearfestival/

The masked folks I photographed above are members of a troupe of dancers who performed at Methodist University's Pangea International Festival and were representing Africa. I really love the way the masks and their gloved hands photographed.

Cheers,
Lynda
