Edgar Allen Poe House, Fayetteville, NC, USA

While looking for quirky Christmas adventures, I noticed an ad for the Poe House (of the brick maker, not the poet) offering Christmas tours. So I signed up. I was pleasantly surprised by this adventure. Yes, it's a mansion with the typical Victorian Christmas decorations, but the guide shared really weird, yet very interesting stories about the house and its Famous-to-Fayetteville inhabitants. The Christmas tour runs through the first couple of weeks in January --- but the house and the free tours are open all year round. If you get the guide I got, it's time well spent!
